Santa Maria Valley Chamber Applauds City Council for Support of Local Businesses

The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce applauds the Santa Maria City Council for showing their support for local business with the adoption of an important resolution during their January 19th City Council Meeting.
Sponsored by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Chambers across Santa Barbara County, the Resolution to Support Safe Business Operations makes clear the case that businesses can (and should be allowed to) operate safely during the COVID pandemic. “The Chamber believes we can keep people safe while operating businesses safely at the same time,” Morris said. “We continue to ask that local and state officials work together with our businesses and consider the economic impact shutdowns are having on both our local businesses and our community.  Unfortunately, many have bought into a narrative that positions business operations in direct opposition to the goals of protecting public health and well-being.  By adopting this resolution, the City Council joins us in rejecting that approach.”
The full text of the resolution can be read here.
As a champion for local businesses, the Chamber continues to support the community through this challenging time and appreciates the partnership and support from our local City Council. “This pandemic has shown us just how important local partnerships are in advocating for local businesses,” Morris said. “We are grateful for our partnership with city leaders, and look forward to continued collaboration in assisting the Santa Maria Valley business community.” In the spirit of partnering across community lines, the Santa Maria Valley Chamber looks forward to having the City Councils of our sister cities, along with the County Board of Supervisors, join us in supporting all businesses.
